You and Thee

You or Thee utilises clues in the text and the distance between learners, to practically explore nuanced details in characters relationships based on how they address each other.
Instructions to Learners

Begin by explaining to learners that there are clues about characters relationships based on the way they address each other. If one character refers to another as ‘Thee’ this signifies informality and a close relationship. If one character refers to another as ‘You’ however, this signifies a formality and distance in their relationship.

Instruct learners to stand opposite each other in the space.  The size of space you are working in will dictate how much distance leaners have between each other; ensure you utilise as much space between learners as possible.

Once learners are stood opposite each other with distance between them, instruct learners to deliver the vocal performance of the scene from their fixed places in the room.

If they addressed someone as ‘thee’ they should move towards that person, If they addressed someone as ‘you’ then they should create distance between them.
If addressing another character as ‘Thee’ learners should consider whether they want to make a point of contact with that other character – this will require framing in appropriate points of contact between learners.
